To our Smyrna High School Families:


We know this may be a challenging time for parents and students, with many unknowns as we all work together to figure out how to navigate through these new circumstances. We want you to know that during the school closure, the School Counseling Office staff is available to assist you Monday through Friday. Each school counselor has set up a way for students and parents to be able to schedule a virtual appointment (see below).  You also can always email any of the counselors with questions or concerns. Ms. Black, our registrar, and Mrs. Solloway, our administrative assistant, are available by email as well.

Crisis Text Line - If you are struggling with any issues during this school closure (or anytime) and need someone to speak with, you can text DE to 741741 to be connected with a Crisis Text Line Counselor. This free service is available 24/7 for children and adults. 


Delaware's Crisis Response Program - The statewide youth crisis response services are available 24-hours a day and 365 days a year for children and teens (ages 2-18) who:

  • Have identified to be at risk of harm to themselves or others

  • Have experienced recent trauma

  • May be experiencing mental health symptoms

  • Are seeking help for managing emotional and/or behavioral health problems

Course Requests for 2020-2021:

If your student was unable to complete their course requests for next year prior to school being closed, a counselor will be in contact with you to help your student select courses. You can view your student's course requests by logging into Home Access Center (choose the "Classes" link at the top---> then select the "Schedule" tab). Please note that students select their top choices as well as alternate courses, which will be marked as such. The courses you view in HAC are your student's requests; this is not the actual schedule for next year.

UD Early College Program:

10th/11th Graders - If you are planning to take any of the UD Early College courses next school year, we are asking that you plan to turn in your form when we return to school on 5/18. The forms will be due no later than 5/20. If possible, if you know now that you want to take a course, please email

Student Access to Scores

To view scores, students must log in to their College Board account or create an account if they don’t have one: Please note: Some scores will be released later for reasons that may include participation in the accommodated testing window or make-up testing, missing information on the answer sheet or other exceptional conditions that require additional attention. 

If you are having issues finding your scores, please try the suggestions below:



At this time, we are working with the organizations who are offering the local scholarships to develop a plan for collecting scholarships now that the school is closed. This may include extended deadlines. If a scholarship application indicates that it should be turned in to the counseling office, please hold on to it for now. We will provide an update as soon as we know more. 


College Applications:

If you are still applying to colleges and need any assistance or information, please email Mrs. Duke or Mrs. Carrow.


Letters of Recommendations: 

If you need a recommendation for a college or scholarship from Mrs. Duke, please email her directly with your request.  If you need a recommendation from a teacher and have not been able to successfully contact him or her, email Mrs. Duke and she will assist you with this as well. 

New Registration Information:

Even though our building is closed, we are still accepting registrations for this school year. If you need to register your student, please print and fill out the forms on our registration website.  The registration form is a fillable document which you can fill out online, save, and email if you prefer.  Once all forms are completed, please scan and email them along with your child's birth certificate, your ID, and proof of residency to:

If you are registering your student for next school year (2020-2021), we recommend that you wait until the building reopens on 5/18/20. There is no disadvantage to your student if you wait until then. Students will still be able to make course selections at that time.
